PsychCares serves families with care that is personal, thoughtful, and focused on what matters most to you. Autism and other developmental disabilities know no bounds, just like your child’s potential. We believe in supporting early development in children that honors who they are, where they are at, and where they want to be. Our practice model is neuro-affirming, centered on empathy and always assent based. We believe that play is the key to effective treatment and developing meaningful relationships with our clients and caregivers allows us to better serve your needs.

Why Virginia & Washington? As a professor at Mary Baldwin university I (Ryan Sain) had the wonderful opportunity to live in the Shenandoah Valley and travel all over the great commonwealth that is Virginia. Many of my students are/were located in some of the most rural underserved parts of Virginia. They taught me that there is a clear service desert across the state for ABA services. My connections within the community and my love for the region made it natural to want to serve folks there and provide meaningful employment to those that want to remain close to their roots. As for Washington, we both make this our home and have for most of our lives.

To Staff At PsychCares, we do not just say we support staff; we built our organization around it. Our upside-down org chart reflects what we believe: clinical care comes first, and leadership and operations exist to support the people providing it. Care drives operations, not the other way around. And accountability is not about control. It is about growth, trust, and empowerment.

PsychCares Services

In the context of our service ethos we provide support to all learners, no matter their level of need.  Our ABA support services are available to all in need – from the most mildly impacted to the most severely. Our team has more than 15 plus years of direct experience handling a wide range of needs in every setting. We will work directly with you and your family to match your specific needs to our skilled providers.

Our team of licensed psychologists provides all your neurological and educational testing needs. From diagnostic testing for ADHD, autism, cognitive assessment, dyslexia, to any other academic or neurological testing and assessment needs (e.g., WISC, BASC, WJ, Conners, Brief, etc.). We will work with your school division/district for special education assessment consults as well.

We take a unique approach to parental/caregiver support. You will be given the opportunity to learn the principles in ABA in 1:1 and small group settings to improve upon parenting skills while simultaneously developing a community with people of similar experience. From this group setting you will be able to take what you have learned and apply it to your home and ABA sessions with the assistance of a BCBA, getting more out of your therapeutic experience. We utilize the RUBI Curriculum.

We provide in house support for those on their journey to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts. We have a unique curriculum (i.e., SuperDuperVision) that celebrates the uniqueness of your skill set as a behavi0r analyst. Supervision training is included in employment.

PsychCares collaborates with school districts to support students that have barriers to success in the traditional classroom setting. Our goal, through auxiliary curriculum and teaching strategies led by our certified special education teachers and board certified behavior analysts, is to help schools ensure that any student within their district receives the high quality education they are entitled to. We provide those services from a client centered, assent based approach that recognizes and celebrates individuality and neurodiversity.

Using over 40 years of ABA and 10 years of special education experiences, we integrate these disciplines to develop a highly specialized and individualized program so that no child left behind remains that way. We meet students in the environment where they have been most successful to help them become successful in all environments.

PsychCares conducts academic and behavioral assessments to support the development of special designed instruction (SDI) programs that meet special educational and curricular goals (i.e., IEP) while outside of the school setting with the ultimate goal of becoming a successful learner.
